Lucy and Zucchini Updates

With some info from the ladies below...thanks girls
Dee (Icehouse Crafts)
Gloria (The Little Red House with the White Porch)
the zucchini plants are now in their containers and we will see what happens. I hope end up with a jungle of leaves and vines and so many zucchini that I'll have plenty to share
with family and friends.

Also a Lucy update. The lump on her neck has totally disappeared and and she has an appointment with Dr. Tim on 5/20 for a followup. He talked about doing another biopsy but there is nothing there to biopsy so that is good. Appears the infection is clearing up. She's had a bit of problem with her stomach due to the antibiotics so I'm adding rice to her diet and she has a chewable pill to help her digestion.
The picture below is Lucy sleeping on the landing in the shop. I know she is feeling better if this is where she decides to snooze. For several days she was sleeping on my feet as I painted.

I washed that window this morning and threw the curtains in the laundry. Lucy loves to push her head past the curtains and nose the window.

By the way...those are the stairs I fell down and the window my shoulder went through when I noticed a 6 foot long black snake coming up the steps as I was going down. Twisted my ankle, which swelled the size of a grapefruit but at least didn't get cut by the glass as the were curtains covered the glass. That was many years ago, before cell phones and I couldn't get in touch with Lou. His Dad came to save the day and get the snake out of the shop.

Grudgingly going back to work now. Thinking the sign boards I base coated earlier must be dry. Hope you are all having a beautiful day!

Lucy Again Has Surgery

Several weeks ago, while giving our Lucy a bath, my husband found a lump on her side. We took her to see our wonderful vet, Dr. Cujdik, and were told to wait and see if it stayed the same size or got larger. Well of course it grew larger. We took her in at 7:30 this morning by 10 the operation was done. The tumor was even larger than the doctor thought so it took many more stitches and will require a longer recovery time. We're supposed to keep her from running and jumping to keep her from ripping the stitches. That's going to be some great trick. Maybe we should tie a cinder block to her leg to keep her still. Won't get the results back from the pathologist until next week. Keeping our fingers crossed that it is a fatty tumor and not anything worse.

Yesterday Lou and I took a ride to Lancaster County, PA to pick up a piece of furniture that he had built for Diane of Basket Accessories as a display piece in the Akron shop. After 18 years of selling merchandise for those who love and collect Longaberger baskets, Diane is closing the retail shop at the Akron. The Intercourse store will remain open. Check the website www.basketaccessories.com for winter hours at that store or to shop online for painted lids, liners, protectors, Amish wrought iron and more.

Lucy's Eye Surgery Today

We dropped our darlin' Lucy at Dr. Cujdik's clinic this morning at 7:30 am for surgery on her right eye. She happily jumped in the truck with us...thinking she was "going for a ride". We took one of Lou's worn tee shirts to put in the cage with her so she would have a smell of the one she loves best with her. A little after nine I received a call that all had gone well...she was in recovery...and we can pick up her up at noon. Also had Dr. Tim take a look at a bump under her right front leg where I pulled a dead tick off of her last week...the Frontline did kill it but it was still hanging on. When I took the tick off, the head stayed embedded in her skin. He removed that also. Just a reminder to all dog parents...remember to give your pup heartworm preventative and use a flea and tick control product. Dr. Cujdik told me last week that he's already had one case of heartworm and several cases of lyme disease. It is so worth the cost to vaccinate against lyme disease. Looks like it's going to be quite a year for these pests that can make our babies so ill.

So we will be going to pick up our darling girl in a bit and I am so very relieved to know the surgery went well.

Below are several of my doggie signs...
all in Lucy's honor...especially the Doggie Dance sign.
