The Flu Feels Like This...

photo:bkmag.com

For the past 3 days I've had a fever, coughing, raw throat and my whole body aches.
I put off getting a few shot...complete stupidity I know.  But with working from home, away from the public, who would have thought that I would get the flu from my daughter and grandbabies.  They visited us on Tuesday and seemed perfectly healthy.  Tuesday night they were sick.  By Thursday afternoon I started with a cough and the other symptoms followed quickly.

I feel like I look like this photo...I'm afraid to look in a mirror.
I believe I'll take another nap now.

Bird Feeders with Oranges

Thinking this may be a fun project to do with the grandson.
Take an orange, cut it in half and scope out the flesh.
Punch two holes, one opposite sides, about 1/2 inch down from the top.
.

Put some peanut butter in a bowl and mix in bird seed.

Thread twine (I used thin ribbon be cause I had it) through the holes.  Fill the oranges with the birdseed mixture and gather the ends of the twine or ribbon together and knot it.

Hang from a bush or tree branch close to a window
so you can see the birds arrive for breakfast.

However, after taking the photo of the orange bird feeders hanging on a branch of one of my azaleas, I decided to attach them to a wrought iron piece I have in my garden...just in case my visitors had fur instead of feathers. I didn't want the weight of a fuzzy friend to break the branches on the bush

And it took less than 10 minutes for the first visitor to arrive.
I didn't see a feathered friend all day.

The Glove Thief...

Lucy's Mug Shots

I hear Lucy playing with something in the living room last night.  I can hear her shaking something and take a look and see her throwing a black something into the air.
When I get closer I find she has my new wool gloves, that she pulled out of my purse.
She didn't chew them, just carried them around and tossed them into the air.

Bad dog...bad dog...but you're so darn cute.

Knights in Shining Armor

To the Castle we did go on Saturday evening... with the daughters and their hubbies, my Mom and two couples who are dear friends and of course Sir Dylan.

We all received crowns to wear for the evening.  Mom Mom and Gramps got a sword and shield for our little knight.  Gramps made the smart choice of a foam sword rather than a wooden one, especially since Mom Mom was sitting next to that sword during dinner and the show.

Our champion for the evening was the Yellow and Red Knight but unfortunately it was the Green knight who won.  We did however get to celebrate the Ravens win that evening.  When we chose Saturday to go to Medieval Times
we had no idea the Ravens would be in the playoffs.

Our brave knight tossed a flower to my Mom and she surprised us all and caught it.  Here she is joking and dancing with it between her teeth.  A good time was had by all!

Is it true bad things happen in 3's?

Okay...so I hope the "bad things happen in 3's" is true. Yesterday afternoon I put a cup of water into the microwave to heat to make tea and the microwave started a groaning and then there was a burning smell. Quickly turned it off and unplugged it. Pulled out my Mickey Mouse enameled tea kettle...filled it with water which quickly ran out a small hole which had rusted through the side. I ended up just heating the water in a pot. Then last night we realized that our house phones weren't working...The main charger died sometime yesterday. Certainly not major catastrophes but annoyances. Will be out looking at replacements today.

I Love You A Special and A Peck...

We get photos or videos or text messages from Holly almost everyday about what the grandbabies are doing or saying or singing. A bright spot in my day for sure. Got a text today that Dylan was running around the house this morning singing, "I love you a special and a peck."  I love too D Boy...a special and a peck!

Begone!

A frosty morning here today...and it's looks like it will be a beautiful day. When I went to slip on my shoes to take Lucy out earlier I found another "stinker bug" as my 3 year old grandson calls them, on my shoe lace. I have been finding the creepies all over the house. As I flush them I scream, "Die, Die, Die!"
