Morning has Broken...

The last of the Christmas orders  went to the Post Office yesterday.  Lou and I have been like elves every day for weeks, getting into the shop early and staying late.  We had a few monkey wrenches thrown in just to slow us down.  On the compressor we use to spray the finish, the tank sprung a leak and Lou has been spraying the signs with a smaller compressor which makes finishing each batch take longer.  Then we both caught some kind of bug and took turns as to who felt the worst.  But the biggie was my old car just stopped running and the news is not good...she has died, never to run again..  This wouldn't be such a catastrophe if the truck was working, but it is sitting in the backyard with the old motor out and a new motor sitting there, waiting for Lou to put it in.   We do have a wonderful family who has taken us wherever we've needed to be for the past week.  Thanks wonderful family!

But this morning we were treated with a  beautiful sky...to the east was a gorgeous sunrise and to the west the setting moon.   New day...and hopefully a new car.

The Week that Went

It;s been a a week full beautiful skies in our little corner.
Lovely sunrises and sunsets.
It's also been a week of leaf raking...
We have gathered up the leaves not once but twice
and the backyard needs to be raked again.

We've painted, packaged and mailed quite a few orders
and the Christmas rush is just beginning.

We're having Thanksgiving Dinner here and I have actually
been doing "Spring Housecleaning" in the fall...
more than just vacuuming and dusting.
So I've been taking down curtains-washing
and ironing and putting them back up,
wiping down woodwork, cleaning the oven,
you know the things you don't do every week.

It was also a week of Memories.
My Dad has been gone for 20 years this week,

but at some point everyday he is in my thoughts and always in my heart.
I was blessed to have him as my Father
.

The moon has also put on quite a show this week.
Goodnight Moon.

The Last of Garden Color...

Chance of snow flurries and dropping temperatures
made me cut the last of the hydrangeas this morning.
I I hoped they would still be around for Thanksgiving
but with the weather forecast,
it doesn't look like the blooms will be around then.

So I will be enjoying them for the next week on the kitchen table.

November Sunset

What a beautiful evening in my little corner.
The sunset put on quite the show

Time Flies...

Just wanted to pop in and say Good Morning.
Been extremely busy in the shop the past week
and haven't been around lately.

Have a great day folks.

What a Beautiful View...

...from my studio window.

A gorgeous afternoon...
to be working on signs of Thanksgiving.

Next...Christmas Goodies.

Two Days...

It took 2 days for Halloween...

Wednesday Mommy, Gramps and Mom Mom took Buzz and Baby Lion,
first to visit Aunt Dot, who is 97,

and then to Mom Mom Mom's (my Mom) apartment
so she could see them in their costumes.

Last night was Trick or Treating with their cousin...
when the candy collecting got serious,
Buzz needed to shed his power pack as it was slowing him down
.

Baby Lion took her first time Trick or Treating very seriously.
She wouldn't let anyone touch her bag of treats,
and when it got too heavy for her to carry, she just dragged it.

Loved being included on the candy collecting mission.

Ghostly Things are Gonna Happen...

As you stroll this Halloween Eve...

Beware of Things that go Bump in the Night ...

Quoth the Raven "Nevermore."
Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary, Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore— While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping, As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door— "'Tis some visitor," I muttered, "tapping at my chamber door— Only this and nothing more. - See more at: http://www.poets.org/viewmedia.php/prmMID/15638#sthash.Y1EHkyWg.dpuf

Leafy Afternoons...

An afternoon with the grandbabies while their Mom and Gramps worked in the shop on
a Buzz Lightyear jet pack for a special boy's Halloween costume.

We pulled out the rakes and I had lots of help with the leaves.

After 5 long minutes of leaf raking...it was time to jump in the pile.

5 minutes after that the novelty wore off and it was back into the house
for  requested  Mickey Mouse waffles
.

and Buzz is almost ready to fly...

Signs of a Wedding...

My sweet niece Jennifer and her Michael were married last weekend
in a beautiful ceremony with family and friends.

My darling great nephew was the ring bearer.  Jenny had requested this sign for
him to carry instead of the traditional pillow.
The colors of the wedding were black and red and the hearts
on the sign have red glitter.
This is the only photo I was able to get of
our adorable Paul as he ran down the aisle.

The Just Married sign on the bridal table.
If you are asking why the Raven on the table...this is Baltimore...
and the reception was held at Westminister Hall in the city.
The building was once a church, built before the Revolutionary War,
and in the cemetery surrounding the venue
is the grave of Edgar Allan Poe. Nevermore...

The dessert table had cake pops and slices of the wedding cake.

The Mr. and Mrs. signs for the chairs tied with red sparkly ribbon.

Colorfest...

For the first time in 15 years, Country Workshop didn't set up
at Colorfest in Thurmont, MD.
Some family events and the fact that our online business is growing made us decide not to participate this year. Seems we made the right choice as it rained cats and dogs on Friday, which is set up day, with rain threats for the entire weekend. But the Lou and I did make an afternoon trip to walk through the town together...something we have never been able to do when we have our own booth at the show. Met for dinner at the "Cozy" with some old crafter friends from our "Roadshow" days for a yearly get together.

Rainy Day Thursday...

Rainy day...I had to push Lucy out the door this morning after she ate her breakfast. She usually ends up sleeping by my feet after she comes in, while I have coffee. But this morning she climbed back in bed...Smart Girl.

Weekend Adventure or Last Fling Before the Ring

Took a trip to Ocean City, MD this weekend for the Bachelorette Party for my darling niece Jennifer.  I laughed when I read my Aunt's Facebook post on Friday morning about our trip...talking about 7 wild and crazy women going to OC for the Fling before the Ring.  The group consisted of the Bride, her Sister, her 2 Cousins (my 2 Daughters) , The Mother of the Bride, The Godmother of the Bride and the Aunt of the Bride.
Out of the bunch I can't say there is even one wild and crazy.

We decorated the car with fluffy white bows and magnets
stating it was the Official Bachelorette Party Vehicle.

We applied this sticker for the back window and all piled into
the car for the trip to the beach.

A stop for dinner after crossing the Bay Bridge
at the Crackle Barrel (as I said, Wild and Crazy?)
and then back to the car to go "Down the Ocean, Hon".
(For those not from MD that is a true Baltimore saying for a trip to OC)

An absolutely beautiful weekend at the beach, sunny and in the low 80's

We took a surrey ride on the boardwalk...
Notice the young girls have fringe on top but the old girls don't.
A warning to the younger generation...when you get old, your fringe falls off!

The one, close to be wild and crazy, was a trip to Seacrets in OC on Saturday night.
Lots of music and really strong drinks.  The old girls stayed for a while but as it was extremely hot and humid and the 3 old girls left to go back to the hotel before the young girls.
However, the Bride and her Bridesmaids ended up back at the room before midnight.

Wild and Crazy ???

How wonderful that these cousins love being together
and have been going to the beach together since they were little.

And it says something about this family that the Bride and her Bridesmaids
would invite their Mothers and the Bride's Godmother to join them for the trip.

Looking forward the Wedding in 2 weeks...
