For 39 years I have had a lamp like this one on my dresser,
a bridal shower gift from my soon to be Mother-in-law.
The past two weeks I've had my signs in a local spring consignment show.
One day last week, I strolled through the shop after making a delivery
and saw two of the same lamps in one of the vendor's display.

I snatched them up as we had two mismatched lamps
on the night stands on either side of our bed.
Just what I really wasn't looking for but happy to find.

I did a Google search for information on Quoizel, Abigail Adams lamps
and discovered that they are still being made.
I found them listed for $300-400.
The vintage lamps are going for $200.00.

I have that very same lamp. I got it for my 16th birthday, 41 years ago! I still use it in my guest room.
ReplyDeleteI have that exact same lamp. It sat on my bedroom dresser when we first got married. We've been married almost 36 years now.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lucky find! I don't have one like it - that would be nice. LOL!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a stroke of luck! Kinda like the time I spotted an exact match to a powder box our son had accidentally broken when he was a toddler. I'd inherited two of them from my grandmother in 1960, and was really sad when he broke one, but such is life, right? Then, years later, there it was in an antique shop! Shrewd operator that I am, as soon as I spotted it, I immediately started to bawl. Yeah, there was no way I was gonna walk out of that shop without it, and the shop owner knew it. Luckily, she charged me a fair price.
ReplyDeleteThanks for signing onto my blog as a new follower. What a pleasant surprise! Here I am on a month-long blogging break, and I've picked up half a dozen new followers... go figure!
Anyhow, nice to meet you. It's my pleasure to return the favor. Count me in as your newest groupie.
What a fabulous buy and they are beautiful. I would much rather have something like these that are great quality than something new. You'll enjoy these for years to come! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty lamp & how neat you now have matching lamps. I have Quoizel lamp. Mine is blue milk glass and I've had it since the 70's.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find. Isn't it something how we sometimes happen upon the most special things when we're not even looking! Such a beautiful lamp. I have a similar one, but in shades of pink. Happy Easter to you!
