why God gives you babies when you're young.
Lou and I had the Dumplin' with us from
Friday through Sunday
while his parents were away.
He is a sweet, loving child and at 18 months
so very busy all the time.
We took him to visit my mother,
his great-grandmother on Friday.
That afternoon he and I spent time reading,
drawing, watching Elmo
and running around the backyard..
Saturday though he was a bit out of sorts.
All he wanted was me.
He also had a rough night and was up most of it.
No fever or other symptoms, just clingy and whiny.
Maybe teething...
Sunday he was his sweet self again.
Lots of hugs and kisses.
Smiles and giggles.
When his Mommy and Daddy came to pick him up,
the Dumplin' was thrilled to see them.
They had missed him too.
When they left for home,
this old Mom Mom needed a nap...
One forgets how much energy
it takes to raise little ones.
I love being a grandmother...

Oh yes, they are delightful. But they can be a hand-full. :-)
ReplyDeleteI began taking care of our first grand daughter, when she was 18 months, while her parents worked. Had her 5 days a week, all year long. I was younger then.
She is now 24, an electrical engineer, and has an engineer as a boyfriend. :-) Time flies. Lots of lovely memories. As well as "making her toe the line" ones, too. :-)

It does take a lot of energy to keep up with the grand children. I've watched our 5 and 3 year old every since they were 6 weeks old. The five year old starts school this year and I am gonna miss her so much. Always a nap in order for me when mom picks them up.
ReplyDeleteYour first sentence is so very true about God giving us children when we're young..
That's a mighty precious picture of your grand son picking a dandelion. A dollbaby for sure.
