Strawberry Times...

What a wonderful Strawberry Festival at the Sykesville Fire Company in
Carroll County, Maryland yesterday.
Put on by the Messiah Lutheran Church, there were flea and craft vendors,
pony and horse rides and bouncy things for the kids.
Lots of  great local entertainment and an assortment of food.
And of course fresh strawberries and strawberry short cake.

It was a last minute decision for us to set up for this festival...
Friends were participating and asked us if we would be interested in joining them.
After we saw what a great family event this was,
I called to see if the grands and their parents wanted to stop by.

The children got to bounce and eat root beer snowballs.  Darlin' D took a ride
on a very large horse but when his sister saw how big the animals were,
she very quickly decided to watch her brother and not pretend to be a cowgrl.

A fun time was had by all...
And did I mention...there were fresh strawberries and strawberry shortcake ?

I look at clouds from both sides now...

 Sky Show
As the storm rolls in...

And after the storm...

Rows and flows of angel hair
And ice cream castles in the air
And feather canyons everywhere,
I've looked at clouds that way.

A Day with my Darling Girlie...

Got to spend a special day with Riah J .
Her brother had a field trip to the Maryland Zoo
and my daughter was chaperoning.
I love having both of my grandlittles
but sometimes it's nice to spend
time with just one
.

We went flower shopping...
in search of a Lipstick Sage plant.
I always have greater success of attracting
hummingbirds with plants rather than feeders
and the hummers just flock to this plant.
The one I had last year did not make it
through the crazy winter we had.

We weren't able to find Lipstick but
did get a variety called Bright Eyes.
Hoping it attracts lots of hummingbirds
for the Girlie and I to watch.

Snakes...Why did it have to be snakes?

We have seen several of these little guys in the yard, but imagine finding one in your living room, curled around the leg of your loveseat. We had unloaded the truck after the trip to Ocean City and I was outside, watering the garden. Lou was inside and saw a little brown snake in the living room. After chasing it all over the room, he finally caught the thing and brought it outside and put it in the garden.
I am creeped out!

Back from the Beach...

We were able to sneak away to the beach for a
beautiful few days to celebrate our 40th Anniversary.
Lucy and I spent mornings on the porch together
...me with the OC paper and coffee and Lucy got to watch
the up early morning folks strolling by.
Lou missed this morning ritual as he opted to sleep in.

We had gorgeous weather to walk along
the beach and boardwalk.
Unfortunately Lucy couldn't join us as she
is still recuperating from a herniated disk
in her back. It's going on 4 weeks now
and she is doing much better.
We have another follow up
with the vet on Wednesday.

And the sunsets were beautiful...

There are some new rules and regulations
at the beach resort this summer.

And it was OC Cruisin' weekend...

It was nice to get away for a few relaxing days...
but back to reality this morning.

Reisterstown Blooming Arts Festival...

We don't set up our display for many shows anymore
(because we're gettin' old),
but decided to participate in a local show on Saturday.
We've done the Reisterstown Blooming Art Festival,
before but not for several years.

Our booth was below some beautiful pink flowering trees
so we had a carpet of blossoms under us.

Our daughter and the grandchildren live just up the road
from the festival and they came by for a visit.

This is a wonderful community fair...
The Kiwanis Club had a children's play area set up for the kids.
They also had table  for the kids to color an insert for a flower pot,
which they provided, and then the children got to go to
the Glyndon Nursery booth to pick out a plant for the pot for their
Mom for Mother's Day

The Oriole Bird stopped by to say Hello!

Local high school kids had a facing paint booth,
and the grandlittles became a butterfly and a spiderman
.

There was wonderful musical entertainment all day long...

Thanks to the  Reisterstown Recreation Council and  Reisterstown Improvement Association who did so much work
to make this a successful event!
